Flyback taser

In this instructable, i will teach you how to make a very effective tazer out of a bug zapper. Do not use this on anyone with a weak heart or pacemaker! Now unscrew any screws from the adaptor, pry it open and remove the metal. Now cut excess metal, keeping the prongs.

Now remove the old battery connections. Cut the mounting for batteries, and cut the Springs from the wires. Now solder the 9 volt adaptor. Negative to the board, and positive to the switch. Here are some videos of the tazer, I'll add one soon of me tazering my friend. Did you know that taser stands for Tom A.

Swift's Electric Rifle. Yes i know the title izzz wrong, but it sounds cooler! Thank you for viewing my instructable. Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions, they are appreciated.

I gave quickly ruined many pocket tazer by using them to make noise to scare the goats out of the feeder, they push and shove and knock the scoop out of my handknocking feed on the ground which they then won't eat the tazer makes a great scary sound and they move away so I can fill the feeder. Will this tazer handle being set off in the air just for the sound? Can you just leave out the LED's? I am not necessarily the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to electronics.

Plus i'd have to do it all without getting caught.

Once upon a time such devices were designed as that:. The scheme is without any details - only to illustrate the operation principles. For a DIY'er this device was of low interest, except maybe the direct use The time have changed and the modern stun gun at least all models that I've seen is so called "direct current device".

Its output power and voltage may vary greatly from model to model. And there are a lot of'em on the market. One should never believe the technical data provided by the manufactorer dor distributor in the form of text on the box or in the applied sheet of paper. Sometimes the lie is obvious like the sign " Kvolts" judge by Yourself hou big would be a device which really gives eight megavolts.

Let's Make Sparks - Fun With High Voltage

Sometimes the desinformation is not so obvious. Mostly one can use a simple rule: the greater stun gun looks the higher voltage it gives.

However there are some exclusions. One could also use a spark gap value th distance between HV pinshowever most stun guns have this distanse set to The range of output voltage is generally about I havent yet seen a stun gun that refused to give 10 kv. And from the other side none of them was able to reach 30 kV even with a forsage by applying higher feeding voltage. The output power at the matched load i.

Here is a photo of a stun gun having been opened. The "heart" of the stun gun is its high voltage module - the epoxy unit having a parallelepiped shape. A flashlight type stun guns have elongated shape more close to a cylinder.

Due to the fact that the epoxy fillment cannot be disassembled in nondestructive way, the burnt stun gun cannot be repaired. Making the epoxy soft by means a two week bathing in acetone and then by gentle removimg the epoxy one can obtain a sense how the HV module designed inside. It contains a semiconductor element a transistor or a three-legged microchip like TOPa sectioned HV transformer looking like a small flyback oneand the output rectifier designded as voltage doubler two diodes and two capacitors.

Therefore the overall circuit looks kinda like this:. The excessive details are omitted like indicator LEDS, multiple of switches and so on. The bridge rectifier at the left of the picture is used to charge the accumulator batterry from the mains. The epoxy-filled HV module is shown by the rectangle. This is my DIY high voltage power supply.

The input is through banana plug connectors. I usually feed it using my homemade 24V power supply but as shown below, I've also used a wall adapter and a laptop power supply.

Also below is a video showing step-by-step how to make this high voltage power supply along with some demonstrations. As you'll see below, the particular flyback transformer and multiplier for this power supply may be hard to find. An alternative is to go with a flyback with built in diodes as I've done here. The voltage will likely be lower though.

With the 30kV output wire I could get at low as 4kV but I wanted lower. It uses a flyback transformer to step the input voltage up to around 10kV AC and then feeds this into a multiplier which brings it up to around 30kV DC.

I've looked at the output on my scope and it's fairly flat. This is about the material in red in the above schematic. This is something I haven't tried myself but have seen done and heard about from others. I don't know much about it myself so I can only be vague. Repeating what I've been told, at least some of the purpose of it reduces the heating of the transistors and protects these bipolar junction transistors from negative going voltages on their collectors as they are vulnerable to that.

The parts in red in the schematic above are what are on my commercially made HVG10 power supply. The photos on the right are of these parts on the power supply. From private email I've also been told that the recommended capacitor size is to nF non-polarized, but nF works too. From a YouTube comment by Alex1M6 on my video about repairing a power supply I was told to "add a fast recovery diode across each transistor in the directions in the above schematic.

Como Encontrar el Primario y Secundario de un Flyback

For further protection put small film capacitors of around nF across each diode too and this will shift the transistors into quasi class E switching and can even reduce the heating of the transistors slightly.

Larger value capacitors will reduce the output voltage slightly but will also reduce transistor stress, so experiment before finalising the value. My flyback transformer was purchased from an online source which seems to be gone from the web.

It's a very old one which doesn't have a built-in diode. Most flyback transformers these days have built-in diodes and it's difficult to find one which doesn't. I couldn't find it online anywhere but the part number information written on a datasheet which came with it is SD-FLY, replacement for Motorola 24DA I actually purchased two of them but burnt out the first one when I tested without the multiplier hooked up yet.

I was lucky enough to get the flyback schematics along with the flybacks and on the schematics it gives the resistance across various parts of the flyback secondary. Using an ohm meter you can easily test whether the secondary of the flyback is any good. After I ruined my first flyback one of the segments of the secondary measured infinity the wire was clearly broken. So it helps to have those schematics! For the primary and feedback coils of the flyback I removed the wire that came with it and put on my own wires as detailed in the diagram above and as shown in the following photo.

After wrapping the wires into place and taping them with black electrical tape, I then coated the result with a few layers of black liquid electrical tape for durability, gluing the whole thing.

It has two inputs hot and GND and two outputs focus and the 30kV output. NTE supplies a thick book of all their semiconductor parts available at any store that specializes in NTE parts and the schematic for the multiplier was in the book. Many of the NTE multipliers can be used. Some have a ohm resistor at the high voltage output and some don't. This won't make much difference for this power supply since if you expect the possibility of high power sparks large spark gap building up a lot of power before sparking then it's recommended that you put around kilohms of at least 2 watt resistors at the output anyway.

Some are 5 step multipliers and some are 6 step. That means that the 6 step ones can start with a lower voltage input to get the same high voltage output as a 5 step one.A Taser circuit also known as Stun Gun circuit is one non-lethal electric shock producing unit used to paralyze a person for a time being without causing any severe damage or injury.

It is a very useful device, especially to immobilize an attacker. A stun gun is available in variety of styles like lipstick stun guns, cellphone stun guns, stun batons, police force stun guns, pink ribbon stun guns and disguised stun guns. Also known as a Taser gun this gadget generates substantial voltage pulses which can disrupt muscle tissues and neurological system, forcing any individual who touches it in a condition of mental bewilderment.

This gadget may be extremely dangerous on folks having cardiac issues, who may be using external electronic apparatus like peacemakerssince it can deliver quite a bit of RF interference. A Taser functions like two-stage voltage converter. In the first stage, the high frequency switching transformer increases the battery voltage to several kV to charge the capacitor. After the capacitor is charged, it powers the second transformer by increasing the voltage to 10 — 50kV approx.

There are basic types of Taser: Multiplier, Thyristor and spark gap. Multiplier Taser is made of one transformer having voltage of higher output and it runs on DC voltage.

This type of Taser also has high-voltage capacitors and diodes and it is for the capacitors that multiplier Taser makes loud sound. The Thyristor type is the most efficient one. Here the voltage of the capacitor is not high — V approx. The spark gap guns on the other hand is the most cheapest and ineffective stun gun. As the name implies, it has spark gap to function and the voltage of the battery is charged with transistor converter.

Of the three types of Tasers, I chose to go ahead with the Thyristor because of its effectiveness. I then used a gate thyristor for the second switch along with four neon glow lamps with the ignition voltage of 95V and the pulse repetition rate of 30 — 50 Hz. For inverter transformer, I preferred to use EE core based transformer keeping the middle column cross-section of 20 — 25 mm2. The air gap of 0. The primary polarity is set to 2x12 turns of the diameter of the wire 0.

The secondary polarity is wounded in multiple isolated layers. The reason to isolate the layers is to avoid breaking the wire enamel under high voltage. There are two electrodes in a Taser gun. They look like a dart and are connected to the main unit with a conductive wire. The best option is to have two cells or Li-pol or Li-ion connecting the series.CFLs can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Generally the bigger the wattage the larger the voltage output.

For this Instructable I got a 65 Watts light bulb. Most CFLs have a similar circuit topology. All of them have 4 wires coming out of them. The wires are in pairs, and each pair connects to a filament inside the light bulb. The CFLs I came across have the high voltage on the outer wires.

DIY Taser Gun Circuit – Stun Gun Circuit

You only need to connect the outer wires to the primary coil of the flyback transformer. You will find a comprehensive description of CFL circuits on this page. Flyback transformers come in all different shapes and sizes.

Pick a big one. The challenge with the flyback transformer is to find 3 pins out of 10 to 20 pins. One pin will be the high voltage ground the other two pins will be that of the primary coil that will connect to the CFL's electronic board. If you can get the schematic of the flyback transformer that will save you time. However you can figure out the pins by following the instructions here. This is how the finished high voltage supply looks like.

Remember, this is a DC supply. The output from the thick wire is positive. In TVs and CRTs this high voltage output drives the negative electrons from the filament to the screen. If you need AC high voltage, you have to remove the built-in diode or find an old flyback transformer that does not have a built-in diode.

The first time I build the circuit, it worked immediately. I used a 26 watt CFL. It didn't work. I was disappointed. I thought that the CFL electronics were shot.

But when I reconnected the fluorescent tube to the four wires, the CFL worked again. I realized that this type of CFL circuit needed to "sense" the filaments in order to operate. Remember, I was only using the outer wires and leaving the two inner wires alone. So I put a resistor across the outer wire and the inner wire. The circuit worked!Jiangsu Tianwang Solar Technology Co.
